Fanem brings new products to Medica 2011
Side by side with the world giants, the Brazilian manufacturer with the highest international representation in the global industry of medical equipment will present two new products of the neonatal line and one of the laboratory area.
For the tenth consecutive year, Fanem, a Brazilian leader company in the manufacturing of neonatal products, will participate in the 2011 Medica, the main event of the health sector, which will take place in Düsseldorf, between November 16 and 19. The novelty is that for the first time ever, the company will have an exclusive stand at Hall 11 which reaffirms its position with the most important world players in neonatology and its heightened competitiveness. During the event, it will be presented the most recent launches to the world market, such as the Koala Crib and the Bilitron Sky, both from the neonatal line; and the Excelsa Flex Centrifuge, a laboratory new item.
“Medica Fair is very expected by Fanem, because it is a strategic event for its international businesses. It brings an opportunity of strengthening even more our brand in the world market, besides amplifying our network, including our commercial representatives in many countries and the main suppliers in the world market”, states Marlene Schmidt, Fanem’s Executive Director.
During Medica, we estimate that contracts totaling over one million reais [BRL] will be closed. The company also intends to establish new commercial partnerships. The efforts during the event will be focused on the promising region of the Middle East, which today represents 30% of Fanem’s total export. In Jordan, the Brazilian company has just opened an office that serves as the basis of its sales in the Arab market. It has a network of 20 dealers covering countries, such as Morocco, Tunisia, Lebanon, Syria, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Iraq, Egypt, Sudan, Oman and Jordan itself, among others. Also, Fanem has recently opened a new industrial unit in India, thus becoming the first Brazilian company of the sector, to operate directly in that country.

Koala Crib, which will be presented to the public for the first time, complements the world-renowned line of Fanem’s cribs. It is a differentiated product that offers comfort and safety in situations of rest, transportation and accommodation of the newborn, in the hospital environment. It has a height and angle adjustment system, so that the crib can be positioned to the same level of the mother's bed, in a way to make possible to take care of the baby, while sitting, in total safety and ergonomic conditions.
A mattress with memory resources provides high comfort for the baby. It also has handles, which not only facilitate the transportation, but also reduce the risk of infection due to contact and handling. It also contains the traditional storage compartment to put away objects, a feature pioneered by Fanem for all its crib models, besides the serum holder, thus facilitating the procedures and care of the newborn. The new Koala Crib will be soon available for the market.
On the other hand, the new Excelsa Flex 3400 Centrifuge can be used in laboratories and health services for different purposes, such as blood typing, washing of cells and cytological analysis, among others. The equipment has an innovative electronic unbalance detection system that prevents noise and vibration that may jeopardize the outcome of the analysis. Besides, it has a cover with absorber and lock, so that the centrifuge can only be opened when the process is completed, thus avoiding connection errors. It has advanced features with a 16-bit DSP digital signal processor, using sophisticated mathematical algorithms to precisely control the selected rotation, which ensures smoother acceleration and braking movements, during the centrifugation process. Its compact and stylish design is ideal for use in tight spaces. It is also manufactured with parts and components within the CE standards and it is already available for the market.
Bilitron Sky is extremely innovative equipment, which contains advanced phototherapy concepts. It is the first phototherapy device with compact dimensions and microprocessed control that integrates functions, such as the capability of measuring the treatment time; reporting the time used by the emitting light source; listing and memorizing the device measurings; and optionally, integrating a sensor to measure the high radiance emitted by the differentiated Super Leds.
The conventional phototherapies emit UV and infrared ray concentration, which may cause harm to the retina, skin, photo sensitivity, among other complications to the newborn. Bilitron concentrates its power in the blue spectrum that is the ideal range of the spectrum for the treatment of the hyperbilirubinemia, thus eliminating those potential harms to the patient. Opposing to the conventional phototherapies, a great differential of the equipment is that it allows the recycling of the components; the multiplication of the shelf life of the light source; and the lowest consumption of energy in phototherapy.
